Leland AMA: Ask Me Anything as a Software Engineering Interviewer π€
Hosted a virtual AMA on Leland for Software Engineering Recruiting Week, sharing candid insights on what interviewers actually look for, what raises red flags, and how hiring decisions are really made.

Hosted a 30-minute virtual AMA on Leland as part of Software Engineering Recruiting Week (March 16β19, 2026) β and it was incredible to connect with over 3,200 attendees! π
The session focused on sharing candid insights from the interviewer side of the table: what stands out in technical screens, what raises red flags, and how hiring decisions are actually made.
Topics we covered:
- How technical screens and system design rounds are evaluated
- What behavioral questions are really testing for
- Red flags interviewers notice (and what candidates don't realize they're doing)
- How to recover mid-interview when things aren't going well
- What separates strong candidates from the rest
It was a joy to pull back the curtain on the interview process and help engineers approach their job search with more confidence and intention. Thank you to everyone who showed up and asked such thoughtful questions!
